Originally from New York and currently residing in Los Angeles, John Zay is an accomplished vocalist, guitarist and producer. In 2001 Zay founded of the group Speed Of Life, which has since gone on to release 2 critically acclaimed albums. In 2002/2003 Zay played guitar with Steve Madden Rock-n-Sole winner Mehuman Johnson. That year Zay also opened his own recording space, Activesoundz, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn where he went on to record many New York based artists. In early 2007 Zay took Speed Of Life on a Cross Country tour in support of their latest release Catalyst. After receiving praise for Catalyst and the live shows that followed, Zay brought the band back on the road that fall. In 2008 Zay relocated both Speed Of Life and Activesoundz to Los Angeles. In 2010 John Zay played shows in NY, LA and Hamburg previewing new Speed Of Life material. Currently Zay is finishing a new Speed Of Life album, mixing Angelo Moore's aka Dr. Madd Vibe's solo album, as well as planning a large-scale music festival spawning out of shamanistic ritual journey space in a community context.
